It’s the end of July but the temperatures here in the UK are still on mid 20s. Yes, the sun appears once in a while but it has been totally different from what we had last year. Last year, Britain hit a record 37C! What happened since?
I am one of those people who actually have a high threshold for cold environments. It is strange for a person who was born and grew up in tropical climate, but yes, most of the time, I do prefer cold than hot. At least when it’s cold, you could always add another layer of clothing but when it’s hot, there is nothing you could do even if you strip down to your skin – unless of course, you jump into a pool of ice cubes…which would hurt and would melt anyway because of the heat! Anyway, not my point really so I should stop before I get carried away.
Thing is, this year, I actually muttered the words “I wish it was summer already because I’m growing sick of this winter!” This was due to the fact that we had a rather harsh winter this year in the UK.
But the sad part of it all is that summer has been elusive. It is teasing and weather geeks are actually saying that August will be warmer but until then…I am still wishing….
UPDATE (29.07.2004, 13:23): Don’t you just love it when your prayers have been answered? “Ask and you shall receive…” Matthew 7:7 Highs of 25s today and will last for the weekend! Woohoo! GOD IS GOOD!
