I’ve finally been able to get rid of my old clothes and shoes. J offered to take it to the nearest charity shop so my spare room is now free of those 2 boxes. I told J that it’s good because now I could go over my wardrobe again and start discarding more things!
It was also funny because we went to Rochester High Street yesterday and saw the weekend market. You’ll find other people’s junk in there – old toys, kitchen items, etc. Clothes, too! So while walking to the parking ticket machine, J and I looked at each other and thought the same thing…..I could just unload the 2 boxes of clothes and shoes here and maybe get my money back out of it! Hee hee! But I couldn’t and didn’t. So, the boxes will continue to go to charity.
This is the thing living in a country with 4 seasons. Either you need to have a reasonably sized closet plus tons of storage boxes and spaces where you keep those clothes that are not “in season” — not because they’re out of style but because it would be silly wearing a linen shirt in winter or wearing a wool coat in summer (mind you, with the summer we had this year, I might as well have!). Or, you get a walk-in wardrobe where everything is hanging.
And that’s just with clothes……what about the shoes? Alright, alright……not many people have more than 30 pairs of shoes. But I do and they are worn by season as well so more space needed for that.
I can’t wait to get my own place and not rent anymore so I could have custom-fitted wardrobe for both my clothes and shoes — oh, and add my bags and purses to that! Until then, there will be more boxes underneath my bed.
