I wanted to write a post last night about my day’s events but when I got home, I got this strange error in my laptop saying that my internet connection cannot be resolved. I tried to renew my IP addresses but it still would not do the trick. I don’t know if it was Windows XP Service Pack 2 that ruined it. In any case, I did uninstall it and re-installed but this time, from the CD that Microsoft has posted to me. Thing is, it took ages to uninstall and re-install it again!!! I fell asleep in front of the machine, woke up at around 5 am and it just finished installing it. This morning, I checked it and it seemed to be working fine. To be honest, I really don’t know what is going on. I just hope that when I come home tonight, I won’t have to do the same thing all over again.
If there is anyone out there who could give me an idea of what seems to be happening and how I could prevent it from happening again, please feel free to drop me an email or write a comment on this post or drop me a message on my guestbook or leave a note on my doodle board. I would really, really appreciate it!

hi charl, windows xp sp2 has been known to disable/corrupt some network drivers. could that be what happened? i have sp2 running on some test machines before i install it on mine. i don’t want any surprises!
well, it is behaving really strange kse everytime i boot up my pc, it advises me of different sorts of programs that are trying to connect to the internet. then this morning, it says that the active shield of mcafee is corrupted but i don’t have active shield since i’m already running mcafee security center. or am i wrong in thinking na this module is no longer necessary when you have the security center?
I had a similar encounter with XP but it was SP1 that time. I guess we should heed my friend’s battlecry: “Migrate to Linux!” Hehehe!
Uuy, di ka na dial-up, bru?
There is this AWESOME Yahoo group I belong to that may help: http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/Computer_tricks_and_tips
that ‘thing’ that advises you of the diff. programs trying to access the net is the firewall which winxp sp2 turns on by default. yun namang sa mcafee, i would recommend reinstalling it just in case may na corrupt.
good luck!
