This time last year

Today marks my 1st year of living here in Kent. This time last year, I was locking up my apartment in Cambridge and handing over the keys to a friend who would take them to the letting agents the next day. Then, me & R drove down here, on a Fiat car rental, to meetup with the movers.

I remember it was sunny and the movers were waiting for about an hour for us since we had to pass by Gravesend so I could pick up the keys for the flat from my new letting agents. When we got here, we moved in all my stuff and the movers helped in re-assembling my bed. Me & R spent the rest of the day putting everything in place. R stayed that night (it was a Saturday).

A year on, I’ve already had thoughts of moving out. Winter here is very hard as it faces the river which leads out to the sea. When it is very windy, I could hear this howling sound like a ghost army is passing through. There is an amount of journey to and from the Chatham train station and buses are not that frequent coming to and from the island.

But then, I am staying on. With all these disadvantages, nothing still beats waking up to the sound of the water and waves. It gives a feeling of being on a holiday. Check out this view from my terrace.

I still don’t know that much people here. But there are a few that I’ve met down at the local pub – Ship & Trades. And I’m looking forward to meet more.

Here are pics of my living room and dining area.
