Remember my concerns about my current residency here in the UK? Well, to this very day, I have no idea what is happening with my application for extension. The Homeoffice IND indicated in their website that they are currently processing extension applications received up to the 6th of August. This information was as of 18th of October. If you just look at these information, my application should be in someone’s desk at the moment and if the Homeoffice is true to its word to complete applications in 2 weeks’ time, mine should have come out with the result now.
But it hasn’t.
So, what do I do? Well, let’s run that question again…I suppose it’s more of what I have done.
Well, I’ve now sought the help of our HR department – again. Our COO actually spoke to me last Friday and told me that it is now being ridiculous that a lot of things are happening in Sales and they cannot afford me being stuck without a passport and unable to travel. I do share their frustration and disappointment. I, too, have felt that I have not been doing my job well because of this impediment. I mean, it’s bad enough that I need a visa to go even just to bloody Ireland! Yeah, I know they do understand that it is something beyond my control and that they were aware of these issues when they hired me. But I do feel personally inadequate whether or not the situation is within my control or not.
I spoke to our HR person who is responsible for work permits, etc. and she asked for the details of my application. She didn’t hint any “See, you needed my help all along” attitude, which I was personally relieved. Thing is, I don’t know if the Homeoffice could entertain her queries and requests when the application was not lodged by her agents. I used my own agent, the same who helped me in obtaining my initial HSMP permit in the first place. Then again, she did say during our phone conversation that she has inside contacts in the Homeoffice and she will try to put my case on top of everyone else’s.
Well, if she is able to help, I do and will appreciate it. Just hope that there isn’t any hidden agenda…

I guess it’s like that everywhere, no matter what kind of visa you applied for… in the US, people sought the help of their mayor or congressman to be able to speed the visa processing of their loved one. My husband didn’t, but it took a while as in loonnng, before I got an immigrant visa.
