Happy birthday, Pudsey!

Today, BBC is running a telethon to raise money to help unfortunate children in the UK. Last year, £30 million was raised.

The programme features different celebrities performing something that they don’t usually perform. For example, tonight, the news readers of BBC performed a musical number. The ladies sang “Venus” (Bananarama) and the men sang “Wild Boys” (Duran Duran). In the past, they had some celebrity chefs (likes of Ainsley, etc.) do a “Full Monty!”

And throughout the show, they feature different children who have been helped by Children In Need all throughout this year.

They also acknowledge some donations from different organisations or any collective, like there was a group who collected from people in the different tube stations in London and was able to raise around £33K! I was particularly touched by the story of the 30 orphans in Nicaragua who pooled their money together and was able to raise £1. The landowner of the orphanage was so touched that he will be having these orphans in his own home for Christmas.

You can donate wherever you are in the world. Check out Pudsey’s pages on the BBC site on information of how you could donate, including online donation until the 29th of December.

Update at 2am: Total money raised on the show, £17M, beating the £15.3M raised last year! Big applause to all who have donated. :touched:
