Breakfast buffet

Have just finished my breakfast at the hotel. It was buffet style and it was probably one of the best that I’ve ever had since it had so much food available, I mean, who would eat sashimi and wasabe for breakfast? Maybe the Japanese indeed do. I’ve never been to Japan nor have I had close encounters with Japanese, both in leisure and business, so I don’t know. But it was amazing! And of course, as always with a buffet, I took more than I could really eat – in Filipino, we call this takaw mata. I had 5 pancakes, 2 eggs overeasy, bacon, chicken sausages and get this, dimsum!!! Yep, as in siomai and the rest of the varieties! Too bad (hala! too bad daw o!) there wasn’t any siopao (char siu pork in chinese bun).

My colleague in Shanghai, N, told me that your body tells you when you are full. When you feel that, it is wise to stop. We talked about this when I asked her why she kept on leaving a substantial portion of her food on the plate. She that in our generation, we were taught that we should always finish the food on our plate. As she grew older, she became more and more aware of what her body is telling her.

I agree with her in most cases but in my opinion, we were taught to always finish the food on our plate is more telling us that we should not waste away food when there are people in the world who don’t even have access to it.

Oh well…after all these profound considerations, I still stuffed myself with the buffet breakfast.

Right, gotta go…I’m flying to Frankfurt in 2 hours. Good thing that the hotel is connected to the airport terminal. Only have to walk.

  1. burp! the dimsum sounded great. and yes, tama friend mo. our body does tell us when we’re full, so we shouldn’t get too much (unlike your friend, who gets more than she needs, :shhh:). look at the babies who breastfeed. there is an enzyme in mother’s milk that signals to them that they are full and so they stop sucking. then it’s on to the other boob para hindi naman mabigat sa nanay. :tongue2: yummeh!

  2. Oh my! Hotel buffet breakfasts are just lovely, aren’t they? :tongue2:

Yup, wasting isn’t just for social consciousness, it’s also not environmentally-sound.

  3. astrantia: ha ha ha! sweet nyo naman!

ping: thanks to God, i got back safely and without much hassles this time.

karen: i used to tell my mum everytime she tells me to finish my food (since there are people in the world who don’t have food) to put my leftovers in a doggie bag and send it to them! evil no? he he he!
