‘Dirty Dozen’ of Spam

Nope…not the meat on tin. Spam emails and other electronic messaging formats.

In an article released by ZDNet Australia last March 2005:

The United States, Canada, China, South Korea and the Netherlands are the top five birthplaces of spam worldwide, according to a new analysis by security software maker Sophos.

The next 12 were Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico and Spain. I’m surprised (but glad) that Philippines wasn’t on the top 17. You’d think that with the I Love You virus and all other worms that originated from my dear beloved homeland, we would have figured significantly in this list. Or maybe, Pinoys got so clever that we were able to mask our IP addresses and projected it to other countries. Or maybe, we’re #18! Hmm.

Anyway, I got to this site because I was looking for a spammer’s database – I wanted to check if any of my email addresses are in there. If you know of any, give me a shout. Thanks!

  1. i uploaded this plugin wherein you have STATAS button (BAStats) automatically added sa WordPress. There, you can check the incoming referrer links. I clicked one of those links and saw my email and site listed… grabe haba ng lista nila na spina spam ha!
