Double strike

STRIKE ONE
For the flight to Belfast this morning, my boss and I agreed to meet in front of the check-in counters of British European at London Gatwick South Terminal. Our flight was at 09:05. We checked in at around 08:10. The person asked for our seat preferences and since my boss preferred an aisle seat, I said that I’ll be getting the window then. I really didn’t mind since it is a short flight anyway. So, he handed us our boarding passes. Since we were returning back to London the same day, we also asked to be checked in for the return flight.

Walking away, I checked my seat number and I was assigned to 21A. Expecting that we would be getting adjoining seats, we were both :bigeyes2: to see that she was assigned to 8A! Now what’s the logic in that? Isn’t the reason why you wait to check in together is to be able to sit together?

STRIKE TWO
Okay, off we went to grab a quick bite before going to the gate. The first boarding call came. We will be boarding from the back of the plane. Would all passengers seated from rows 12 to above please board the aircraft. I followed the looong arm to the plane, got in and walked the tight aisle down to the back. I then realised that, Great! I’m seated at the last row! But more to my to my horror and shock :yikes: ROW 21 DOES NOT EXIST!

The flight attendant was very apologetic. She said that the booking staff probably thought that that aircraft would be longer. Apparently not! So, I stood around for a while until everyone was boarded before I could settle into my seat. And fastened my seatbelt! Good thing the flight was not full.

VERDICT
That’s TWO — and if I’m not mistaken, in baseball, one more and they’re out.

Postscript
Lucky them no misfortune happened with the return flight.

  1. you know i am a traveller (soon to be elevated as a jetsetter haha), and for some reasons, I always prefer the aisle seat. Maybe because I am plain paranoid (i always think i’d escape well, or avoid stampede if ever the plane crashes). Also i am a claustrophobe.

nice entry, reminds me that i have to travel again

  2. to muse: i hate the aisle seat simply because you always get bumped into by the trolley or people walking up and down the aisle! and somehow i find it difficult to get a bit of a snooze when i’m on the aisle seat. maybe if it’s a 30-minute flight, ok lang.

on the side, i’ve linked you na!

to ruth: yeah, bad luck FOR THEM if ever kse di na ako sasakay ever kanila! :bigmouth:

  3. i prefer aisle seats, simply because of my frequent visits to the toilet. and yes, each time i travel for work, it’s always a loooooong flight, so i really need to get it.

nakikidaan lang po…cant help to comment.

  4. if i’m travelling with my hubby, i always get the window seat. otherwise, aisle ako. i don’t like the feeling of being ‘cornered’-seated with a stranger.

good to know you had a safe flight!

  5. Yo! it will be nice to link with you. I am a bit slow in html’s so yung mga links medyo mabagal ako but i’ll be doing it… okay nga ding basahin ka. I haven’t travelled abroad in 2 years kailangan ipon uli… pero all my air travels were okay naman pwera lang yung sa american airlines… naku long flight tapos wala man lang libreng toothbrush…hehehe… halos di ako magsalita pag landing sa US… konting smile at nod lang!
