I mentioned in my previous post that mobile services will reach their peaks on the day the ticket lottery for the Live8 concert in Hyde Park opens. Sure did. According to Computer Weekly on their 07 June issue:
Live 8 tickets demand turns mobiles static
Mobile networks heaved under the strain as thousands of music fans jammed the lines in a bid to win exclusive tickets to the Live 8 event, a follow up to the Live Aid concert, which took place 20 years ago to raise money for famine-stricken families in Africa. This time the cause is to highlight global poverty and debt to coincide with the G8 Summit of world leaders in Gleneagles.
So, have you contributed to this congestion yet? It’s simple. Just simply text the letter corresponding to the answer to the question below.
What city is the forthcoming G8 summit being held near in this July?

A) Berlin
B) Moscow
C) Edinburgh

On a somewhat related move, Bush and Blair announced yesterday that “they propose to write off the debt of 32 countries, provided they tackle corruption and enact economic reforms.” Sounds good. We can only hope that they will convince the other world leaders in the summit and even beyond. Click here to read BBC’s report.
