I haven’t had a weekend like that in a long time. It was really good:
- good weather
- good times
- good company
- good results
Friday
My weekend always starts the minute I leave work on Fridays. When I got home, I did not know what came over me but I started to go through all my shoes again and manage to take a photo of each pair with my digital camera. It also gave me the chance to go through all of them once again and decide which ones to throw — actually, to give away — and which ones to keep. See, I had 22 pairs lying around without shoe boxes so I had to see which ones I will get rid of so I could re-use their box for the other ‘homeless’ pairs. Was able to chuck out 7 pairs. Then, after the footwear pasa masid, I downloaded the pictures from the digital camera to my laptop and printed them on photopaper. Afterwards, I cut each out and stuck it to each box with sello tape. This idea actually came from a friend of a friend. Only difference was, she used a Polaroid camera whilst I used my trusty Olympus camera and HP printer. When I was done, (around midnight) I was starving but happy as I’ve practically completed the ‘re-housing’ of my beloved shoes-sessss!
Saturday
Got on the train to London and was delayed terribly — as usual. I was to spend the morning to lunch with my pregnant friend and her husband to chill out near Horniman’s Museum in Forest Hill. Got there around noon and stayed until 3PM.
Next on my itinerary was a haircut from J Moriyama studios off Marylebone Road in London. I booked for 4PM and I got there just in time from Forest Hill. Temperatures were at peaks so it was lucky that the salon was not full. Junko, my hairdresser/stylist did a great job — as usual — with removing the ‘weight’ of my hair and add layers to give it a good shape. The price was so reasonable since you get an upper body massage with it! I was out of the salon around 5PM.
Rang my friend, N, to let her know that I was on my way to her place. I was to accompany her to get a barbeque, supposedly (I’ll tell you later) for a party this coming Saturday at their apartment. She and her brother bought and moved in to this place last year around November time. Anyway, she was on her way back home herself from her lunch with another friend and she was 5 minutes away from Baker Street so she could give me a lift.
When we got to their place, she showed me some of the travel brochures that she got for our upcoming holidays to Mexico. We finally agreed on the dates — leaving London on the 18th of August and return on the 29th of August. Also agreed that we will be staying on the Caribbean side of Mexico, which is around Cancun. She showed me this all-inclusive, adults-only hotel spa – Aventura Spa Palace in Playa del Carmen. As I read through what is included and the facilities available in the resort, N and I decided that we want to go there or at least a similar property. I’m sooo excited to go, I really am!!!
We got to Homebase and found the different BBQ grills. They wanted a gas-fired one but after so much deliberation, they decided not to get one. So, we just picked up a couple of electric fans since their apartment was scorching.
We then continued on to the cinema to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith at the Vue Cinema at Finchley Road. I must that I really enjoyed watching it. Although there were times when the story was dragging. Too much, too many of the action scenes, I reckon. I did love Brad’s acting. He’s funny. I like him better in comedies. As for Angelina, hmm, she’s good but I suppose she has now become “the other woman” stereotype. Loved her hair, though. It was back to their place afterwards and went to bed.
Sunday
Left my friends’ place early to catch the train home from Victoria. I needed to be home before 1PM because I had a driving lesson booked. I managed to catch the 11.15 as it was delayed. I got into an empty seat (train was not full) and waited for it to pull out of the platform. Meantime, I busied myself by sorting out my calendar. I then realised that we were sitting there for more than 20 minutes. So, I got out and checked what was happening. Turned out, no trains were leaving Victoria as a freight train broke down somewhere. Possibly on the track where all trains have to go through. There were announcements of catching the train from Charing Cross. It was annoying because no one bothered to make the announcement inside the train. One lady made sure that she aired out that fact to the rail company staff.
So, I got into Charing Cross and I was able to catch the 12.15 to Ramsgate and Dover Priory. Then I remembered that I had a text message from my preggy friend, M, who told me that they were off to the coast for the day. So, I rang her and she suggested that I take the train all the way to Margate. And that they would meet me there. After 2 hours, I got there.
But my friends decided that we go to another beach. There were too many people there at Margate. Too many chavs! Heheheh! We went to Minnis Bay in Birchington instead. It was better…not too crowded. The water was not cold at all. And then, L tried to fly his kite. But it was a shite kite! We stayed there until around 5PM and went to Whitstable to grab something to eat. We thought we weren’t all that hungry but after 2 combo platters and a big plate of nachos, we were wrong.
They dropped me off at my flat at around 8PM…and sun was still high up in the sky!
