Last Friday, I saw (possibly) the most exciting musical in West End these days — Guys and Dolls. It stars the fabulous Ewan McGregor, (yes, he can sing!) and Jane Krakowski, Elaine from the famous TV show Ally McBeal. I promised my friend, N, that I won’t gush … too much … over Ewan. I just kept repeating the word Y-U-M-M-Y silently until she agreed! :love7:
Ewan played Sky Masterson as Marlon Brando was in the 1995 movie version. I remember hearing Brando’s version of I’ll Know from one of Barbra Streisand’s concert CD, and was surprised at myself for following some of the lines while it was being sung on the stage of the Piccadilly Theatre. N was astounded that I knew some of the songs! I particularly enjoyed Krakowski’s performance of Adelaide’s Lament, felt it was better than the original from Viviane Blaine. Funny lyrics…
The average unmarried female
Basically insecure
Due to some long frustration may react
With pyschosomatic symptoms
Difficult to endure
Affecting the upper respiratory tractIn other words
Just from waiting around
For that plain little band of gold
A person can develop a cold
If you’re in London-town…go see it! It’s really fantastic!

Ewan is one of the actors I respect most. Very versatile guy, did you meet him? like meet meet?
ah, that would be perfection, mikey! i wish i did. but i had to settle for seeing him so close as we were seated in the orchestra stalls.
yes, i do admire him greatly as an actor, too. he always seem to have intelligent and witty answers when interviewed.
