Had my first taste of a stay-at-home wife (a-hem!) or partner last Monday. I spent the weekend over at P’s and on Monday morning, I woke up with stomach pains. These made me unable to go to work or even do much. So, I decided to hang around at P’s while he went to his lectures and did his business. I slept till midday, woke up to get myself coffee and organise P’s laundry and wardrobe. Pain got in the way so I had a rest. When I felt better, I unpacked P’s printer and sorted out his work desk. Coffee was being drank in between. P called around 1pm to check on me and said that he’d be home in 4-5 hours’ time. I went to the kitchen to wash the dishes when the stomach cramps came back. Went back to bed and found myself dozing off again while watching Friends Series 10. I woke up to find a missed call from P and a voice message. He called to ask me what I wanted for tea, that he was on his way home but passing by the food store on the way. I returned the call but he didn’t pick up so I left a voice message to say that anything works for dinner. When he arrived at about 6pm, I was half-asleep. He gave me kiss on the forehead and snuggled in bed with me. We stayed like that until 8pm when we decided to have pizza for tea. The stomach pains came again after my 2nd slice and P said that we shouldn’t have had spicy pizza. He gave me Alkaseltzers and ordered that I can’t drink Coke nor eat more pizza until I finish it. After dinner, we just chilled around, chatted with his roommates and went to sleep.
OK, it may not be as realistic as a housewife’s day as it normally is, but it felt like that to me. Baby steps, just baby steps.
