Selamat Datang! Yes, this is what my card key says here in Jakarta. I’m Asia-bound (or should I say, Far East bound) again. This time, my cities would be Jakarta, Bandung and Singapore. Of course, there would be the sidetrip to Manila — rather the annual trip (or so I try to be) home to see my mum.
Boarding from Heathrow, I checked in without problems (well, I already checked in online) and then picked up the foreign currency I ordered from American Express Travel. It was weird having millions in my purse … rupiahs, that is! Wish they were £££!
By the way, they have introduced an new immigration control after security scanning in Terminal 3 of Heathrow. There used to be none when you’re leaving the UK. So, I don’t know what they are hoping to achieve with it.
Singapore Airlines is really a great airlines to fly with. Their pilots are excellent, their flight attendants were cheerful and helpful, except for one who chose to serve me last with my food choices within our cabin section. Best of all, the variety of movies were good — well, maybe not of Oscar quality films but most were those that I missed watching in the cinema. I was able to see Must Love Dogs, which stars Diane Lane and John Cusack, Valiant, the animation with the voices of Ewan McGregor and Ricky Gervais, and then Batman Begins, the one with Christian Bale and Katie Holmes. I also saw part of Wedding Crashers and Bewitched.
Then I had a 2-hour layover in Singapore, which gave me enough time to pick up a new pair of white flat pumps! Hehehe! I sent a text message to P to let him know that I’ve arrived in SIN and when I told him that I had a layover, he immediately thought, “Uh-oh!” So, the first thing he asked me when I spoke to him on the phone was, “So, what was it that you bought? A new iPod? A new laptop?” Hehe … he already knows me well on that department! I told him that I got the pair of shoes and he just said, “I knew you will be buying something!”
Finally arrived in Jakarta and now I’m refreshed and ready to jump into bed in my lovely hotel room. Thing is, it’s only 5:40pm back in England so I suppose I will still be up for a while.
