Very chilled

Couching and eating. Yep. That sums up the bank holiday weekend that has been. We stayed at mine’s watching DVDs and telly. Among these are:

Dodgeball
Finally got to see this really funny film! I know it’s been ages ago but it is really, really funny. Line of the film:

Usually you have to pay double to see this kind of action!

Zoolander
Of course, to complete the Stiller saga… Ferrari look, Magnum look *flash* *flash*

Sideways
Ah, I really recommend this one. It was dragging in the beginning but it’s worth sitting through the entire film. Moreover, the characters felt like they were real person and not Hollywood actors playing a role, if you know what I mean. Watch this! Seriously, you’ll love it.

Don Juan di Marco
With the excuse of a comedy film, I made P sit with me through this one as he doesn’t like watching rom coms and chick flicks. This is, of course, the Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando version, thus failing to cover the fact that it is a chick flick. Anyway, I know he’s picked up some pointers from the “greatest lover of all time…”

House of Flying Daggers
Saw this on a tiny screen on a flight to somewhere. Of course, it should be watched properly on a BIG screen. However that evening, I wasn’t feeling up to watching it. But to make up for making him sit through DJdM (Don Juan di Marco), I said yes to popping this one in the player.

8 Simple Rules
This is a TV sitcom aired by ABC1 here in the UK. They had a marathon last bank holiday Monday and we sat like potatoes all day. Funny CJ and grandpa…

Right, as I said, it was a combination of sitting in front of the screen and eating. Oh boy, did we have a feast!

Friday night, I prepared adobo as promised to P. I must say, I am getting better and better in cooking it on the hindsight that I know P loves it sooo much!

Saturday was binagoongan … he detested the smell of bagoong of course, but it wasn’t recognisable when I prepared the dish. Too bad, I didn’t have siling labuyo.

I experimented on Sunday night with tilapia. I bought an entire fish when I went to the Asian food store in Chinatown. I thought first of preparing it ‘escabeche’ style but I ran out of tomatos. Instead, I fried the fish and seasoned it with Nando’s lime and coriander sauce. I served it with tagliatele with mixed veggies on a lime and coriander dressing.

And lastly, Monday night was bangers and mash. This was the 2nd time that I’ve prepared this and I am really getting the hang of it. Of course, the key elements are the sausage (recommend Sainsbury’s pork and leek) and the gravy (I used Bisto).
