Ni!

We are the knights who say Ni!

Familiar with that line? How about this…

Bring out your dead!

Still don’t know where it’s from? OK, this might do the trick.

Always look on the bright side of life. (whistling follows)

Of course, it is Monty Python!

Went to see the highly acclaimed Monty Python’s Spamalot (lovingly ripped off from the motion picture “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”) musical at the Palace Theatre last night. It laughter and piss-in-your-pants all the way from start to finish! We made it a point to see it before the year ends because Tim Curry plays King Arthur from the Broadway original and he will be handing this over to another actor in the new year. Although he didn’t dance a lot (pardon the pun) he was really, really good. Very regal and commanding voice worthy of being King of the Britons.

Spamalot

Of course, the Knights (aptly pronounced as k ni gits) were there at Camelot — built like the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas — singing “We Are the Knights of the Round Table”. And of course, the Round Table referred to the roulette! Then, of course, the trusty, coconut-clacking steed was present to support his liege and gave a rousing rendition of “Always Look On the Bright Side of Life” (originally featured in the Life of Brian) as King Arthur tried to do the whistling pathetically!

The best part for me, however, is the appearance of the Lady of the Lake aka Guinnevere at Camelot with a Liza Minnelli-like performance complete with the glittery costume. The actress, Hannah Waddingham, is simply superb! And fit… according to my male companions including P!

What’s more, during the interval, instead of selling the typical ice cream, they were offering Spam sandwiches!

Shame though that no one from the original MP group was on stage. But methinks that the voice of God is actually John Cleese!

In any case, it is a truly must-see for both theatre and non-theatre goers! You’ll end up like me, crying with so much laughing. Word of advice, don’t order the Jack Daniel Tower at Fridays before seeing this show or your tummy will ache!!!
