Above and beyond

I love Flickr! (and Flickr loves me…)

From time to time, I browse through the ‘Interestingness’ pages to admire the photos from both the pros, amateurs and, at times, the wannabe photographers. Okay, okay… none of my photos have made these pages so I will dial down the bitchiness.

Anyway, I stumbled upon this photo from davidteter and my initial reaction was jealousy. Who wouldn’t? How many people are lucky enough to see the world from this point? A tad few. I love how this photo captured the atmosphere, which separates our beloved planet from the harsh elements of space. It seems thin yet it has made life possible and seeing it this way makes one feel so sentimental. Bravo to you, davidteter!

Ah! I dream to be in space. Hell, I want to be in space! Even for just that moment that I could see the blue earth from suborbital space. It is my childhood dream to be an astro/cosmo-naut (hey, whoever gives me the chance, really!) — but the closest I got is through books, studying the science of it all. Unless, of course, you can count seeing Prof Stephen Hawking giving a lecture at Cambridge the closest encounter.
