Such a disappointment

Well, everyone must know by now that this weekend has been a big disappointment to British sports fans. Saturday night, of course, is the heart-breaking loss of the England rugby team to South Africa. And this afternoon, Formula 1 wonder boy, Lewis Hamilton saw his dream of becoming a rookie world champion fly away.

Personally, I wasn’t all too gutted with this result because I have been a straightforward Ferrari fan when it comes to Grand Prix racing. I did want Felipe Massa to win but seeing that his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen, had a shot with the Driver’s Championship, then it wasn’t all that bad. I believe that the start of the race was the key factor in the Ferrari wins. Massa was on pole position with Hamilton behind and then Raikkonen. When the green lights went, Massa moved to the left covering Hamilton giving way to his teammate. This open also gave the opportunity to Fernando Alonso to move alongside his McLaren co-driver but Lewis’ competitive spirit took the better out of him, which really didn’t work out well to his advantage.

C’est la vie.

The thing is, Lewis Hamilton has nothing to prove. Anymore. He’s already made everyone aware that he’s a force to reckon with given that he’s achieved so much in his maiden year. It is a certainty, and most experts agree, that one day, he will become world champion. And as his own father said, if not next year, then the year after that or the year after that!

Cheer up, Lewis! The entire British nation is certainly behind you all the way.

For now, big kudos to Kimi Raikkonen. He truly deserved this championship.

Winner = Raikkonen
