San Diego, a historic jewel in the Pacific

There has been a recent advert in the telly on California. I found it to be simple but sweet. It did not, however, entice me to move and live there but California is still on my list of places to visit. I still have not been to San Francisco and I would also like to visit the wine county of Napa. I have been to Los Angeles, where I have relatives, and San Diego. Would I go back? LA, maybe – aside from family matters, of course – but San Diego, a definite YES!

It had been a while since I was there and it was a brief visit on business. We stayed at the Residence Inn (a Marriott hotel), which is near the Little Italy District and the Gaslamp Quarter. It was a good hotel that offered free high-speed internet access in the rooms. I found the location of the hotel to be in close proximity of the San Diego International Airport, which was really handy.

There is so much gastronomic choices in San Diego. And in my opinion, it is here where I had the best Mexican food ever! This is probably enriched with the fact that they are in the border with Mexico. It was this cantina-type restaurant near or at the Old Town Park. Unfortunately, I could not remember the name but when I do return to San Diego, I would probably recognise the place.

I did not have much time for sightseeing back then so during my re-visit, I would make sure that I get to visit Balboa Park, Little Italy District and the San Diego Zoo. Of course, I will have to check out more of the night life because I was told by a friend who studied in the university there that San Diego has a rocking atmosphere especially in the Gaslamp Quarter. That is definitely something to look forward to.
