Sisters are coming to town

Sister Act - A divine musical comedy

Received an email last night saying that Sister Act, The Musical is coming to London’s West End!

It will be produced by Whoopi Goldberg herself and will feature music by Alan Menken with lyrics by Glenn Slater and directed by Peter Schneider. London Palladium will host it from May 2009.

The musical is based on the 2 films of the same title, which starred Whoopi as a lounge singer posing as a nun for safety when she witnessed a crime. She then, of course, transformed the choir into a sensation during her stay at the convent. The songs featured in the film were all brilliant and my favourite among the lot is “My God” — a version of “My Guy”.

This musical, however, will have new score and new songs.

I am so excited as it has been a while since I’ve been to the theatre. Wonder who will play Deloris Van Cartier aka Sister Mary Clarence? Whoever she is, this musical, I’m going to see!
