Broadband internet connections are becoming more and more of a household necessity these days. Here in the UK, the marketplace is teeming with providers who have designed a variety of offers that are certainly attractive. The broadband populace is growing and these ISPs are definitely taking advantage of it.
There are different kinds of broadband though, the most common (at least here in the UK) are:
- ADSL – (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) uses existing phone line
- Cable – uses fibre-optic cables that are normally shared with TV cable
My own personal experience with broadband providers have been with NTL and Blueyonder (from Telewest). Both are delivered via cables as I also subscribe digital TV and fixed phone services with them. I was first with NTL when I was living in Cambridge but when I moved here at Medway, I had to switch to Blueyonder. Why? Simply because NTL no longer covers the Medway area and my building only allows Telewest as they have already laid out the cables.
